Rockets

TRA# 9185

Andrew and I got started flying rockets (again) in 1999. We don't have many still photos to show, mostly video which I don't have the hardware to digitize.

Andrew's Mosquito, which ended its flying career with a crash May 20, 2000. This photo was taken Aug. 26, 1999, before its first flight.

Andrew on the left with the Equinox, which we ended up not flying that day because it was too windy
and me on the right with the Callisto which had its first flight that day on an F50. The Equinox eventually crashed because of a parachute deployment failure. The Callisto blew up in a motor cato.

Here I'm at the RSO table getting my Public Missiles Quasar inspected prior to my Level 1 certification flight on Nov 10, 2001, at the Argonia launch site. The flight went just fine so now I have level 1 certification.

My finless rocket "Venice" (using Venetian blinds to provide extra surface area), launched at Argonia, Aug. 10, 2002. It went up about 50 feet or so, lots of drag from the blinds. I'll have to try it with just one. Photo by Kevin Ireland.
